Sidni for Disney Italia - Mount Martha, Australia Travel Blog

Victoria, Wednesday, November 10, 2010 Some unusual things can occur while you're away from home. Sidni was approached to be a piece of a photo session for Disney Italia, DYou magazine, currently in Europe and to be launched in North America in January. Her first sitting was done on the 88th floor of the Eureka Tower in downtown Melbourne. There is a 360 degree viewing platform to see the metropolis from.

The column is only 2 years old, took 4 days to build, and is the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. A 38 second elevator ride takes you up and from there the views are spectacular. Especially at sunset - the camera I used is nothing special, but it certainly put a few things literally into better perspective. Coffee and sandwiches, wine, etc are available, and oddly not at an elevated cost ;-)The stylist had cordoned off a large box of the roof to floor glass enclosure; also organized with the Eureka Tower staff apparently as the models and accompanying parents were treated to anything we would like, and a faculty member to solely attend to the party

. It felt odd, Sidni was activated and wish the others, was sent off to makeup, hair and costume. It was a long night for a fistful of pictures but what an experience for her.Next day an email came through, asking could she do another one at a different location. Wanting to search the south eastern face of the bay anyway, we took firstly a half hour tram ride to the interior city, then a 1 hour train trip to Frankston; not a nice town from what we saw, a short harsh and ready, and I wouldn't go out after dark. From there we took a bus into Mornington Peninsula, specifically, Mount Martha. A lovely beach with around 30 beach houses painted in brilliant colors and hues, lining the shore. During fall and overwinter the water laps the stairs of the houses, which spurned government intervention on the number of grit in the area. In a domino effect the area's cliff face is being overly warn away and taking sand with it.This photography adventure would prove more stressful than they had anticipated as clouds rolled in and it got quite cool. Not the ideal conditions for swim suits and surf boards.A short piece in, the clouds blew over and a nice sunset became the backdrop, but oh it was cold! The long journey home got us back in the heat of the fireplace by midnight. The following day the temperature went to 28 C.
